My word/theme of the year is Bloom! I’ll be starting a new job in a few weeks and moving later this spring, and after being in survival mode for a while, I’m invested in intentionally building spaces to help myself thrive.
Sounds like you have lots of plans for the coming year, no surprise there! As my children were growing up, I made it a policy that I would take a trip somewhere exciting with each of them, when they got old enough to remember the trip. The eldest, I took to Maryland to tour and visit relatives, touring Apalachia on a rented motorcycle. The next went with me to a conference I presented at in Hawaii, the next went with me to Regina Saskatchewan to buy an antique car and drive it back home (Seattle area), and for the last, we flew down to San Diego, visit the zoo and Sea World and then took the train home, reading the (then) latest Harry Potter book together along the way. My husband did similar trips and things with them, too. I have always loved these memories and I recommend this to you also.
Your note about newletters made me laugh because my newsletter folder on my email is just called Hannah, because yours was the first newsletter I ever followed and it clearly didn't occur to me that I might go on to follow more. And I have chosen not to change it. Keep being awesome :)
Hi! I love the way you put intentions vs goals. And they are good intentions, I think.
This year I'm testing doing a vision board, since I took a little workshop about it. In there it said is must be paired with SMART goals, and I actually already had those very clear… Now the difficult part is to figure out how to organize my time to do it all without feeling overwhelmed.
But in the meanwhile, I'll search for the images to make the actual vision board, print them and hang it in my office.
I haven't decided a word or quote of the year to put in it, because I haven't found one that describes my intentions precisely.
Last quarter of 2024 I had a breakup (and, subsequently, a moving to a different city), so now I want to focus on healing, on nurturing my body and soul (I'll try to do more "artist dates"), on being healthy and do more movement, on getting rid of the toxic productivity mindset, on giving me grace and learning to manage my PCOS and ADHD through lifestyle changes, on taking the opportunity to be more in touch with my family since I'm closer now. (And also, I want to make sure I have healthy finances, even if my income is not that much).
But also, I want to keep moving, I want to complete my pending projects, like a data analysis course I was taking and the pending paper from the data of my masters, and I'll also resume my job hunting, but I need to do some introspection first.
So far, some options are:
-Nurture
-Bloom
-Nourish to flourish
-Authenticity
-Be present
-Slow down
I guess I'll find the answer as I do some image search (or so I hope).
Best luck with your 2025 intentions!!
Ps. I also have an incredible backlog of newsletters... I think I should delete them all too xD
