I’m going on holiday! (and oh boy do I need a break) ☀️
We’re making the most of not being confined to the school summer holidays for now but it does mean I am DESPERATE to get away…
Hi there,
This is being delivered to your inbox the day before I go on holiday and I am so excited! I’m not sure how relaxing this next week is going to be because 1) we have a toddler and 2) we decided to forgo flying and get to our holiday by train instead which means 2 long travel days on trains and see point 1) for why that might be a challenge…
Wish us luck! I’m interested to see how it goes and how pleasant the experience is because so far looking at how much we’ve spent on trains (Eurostar and then trains inside France) it is significantly more expensive than flying and we weren’t expecting the costs to be as high as they’ve ended up being and so who knows if this will be do-able again.
What’s a good age to take your kids to Center Parcs? 😂 Is that even a cheap(ish) option? We’re not completely against the idea of flying but where possible if there’s an alternative to destroying the planet through plane emissions, we want to give it a go! So that’s what we’re doing - it’s an experiment!
(You may need to click “view entire message” at the bottom if this email gets cut off in your inbox!)
We’re also trying to make the most out of still being able to go on holiday outside of school holidays when it’s cheaper and less busy - not for much longer! I keep thinking about how on earth do families where parents are working handle the school holidays in terms of childcare and costs of activities?! Any tips for when we get to that stage are welcome!
But I’ll share one with you now that I remember hearing (I think on the panel at WOW Festival at Southbank Centre about childcare but could’ve been somewhere else?), which is… if possible give yourself some time off work after the school holidays. It is not just a gift to yourself but also a necessity in many cases, once your kids are back to school to let yourself relax and breathe because the holidays are HARD. I hadn’t thought about it this way and had only really considered taking time off work during the school holidays but giving yourself some time to decompress after sounds like such a good idea!
How has your summer been? Have you managed to get away anywhere or get some quality rest in? What have you been up to? Feel free to share in the comments of this post!
🌻 New Patreon Sticker sheet! Moog has been working hard putting together our next Patreon Special Offer and we’ve just ordered a sample which should be arriving soon! Once we have it and are happy with everything then it’ll be time to launch a new Special Offer on Patreon so keep a look out for that! (all existing Patrons also get it so if you don’t have to wait to join, you can join now 😝) But we’re hoping to launch it soon and thank you to my Patrons for voting on your favourite illustrations and logo colours to help us pick which images to create stickers out of! I’m excited!
🎙 Podcast recommendation: Gender Playground! This is a new show from Witch, Please Productions and it’s all about gender affirming care for kids. It’s hosted by Marcelle Kosman who is a parent to a trans child and Raimi Marx who is a mental health counselor and LGBTQ+ trainer and consultant. It’s such a lovely show and resources like this are so important for parents/carers/teachers and anyone with young people in their lives. I believe just one episode is up on their public feed but there’s more on their Patreon as they are trying to get more Patrons so they can fund making more of the show! So subscribe, listen! And if you like it consider supporting them. Witch, Please Productions also make a show called Material Girls which is a scholarly podcast about pop culture so you’d be supporting both! (they’re not paying me to say this I’m just a big fan girl of them lol)
This sexy fact comes from anonymous and is “sex during a menstrual cycle makes the cramps less intense”!
As far as I am aware this is true, but of course sometimes your cramps can be so bad that the idea of sex is just so unappealing. I think it’s the same theory as to why exercise can help with menstrual cramps - is it hormones or you’re doing an activity so you are distracted from the pain?? Probably both. Also, if you don’t want to go to the effort of sex with a partner or exercise then a cheeky wank and orgasm might help too!
If you’d like to submit your own sex fact for the group in our sexy show and tell then you can submit here!
🎮 Baldur’s Gate - ever since Dan and I finished playing Divinity Original Sin 2 there has been a co-op RPG video game hole in our lives. We’ve known about Baldur’s Gate for YEARS and have been patiently waiting and it is finally here! These games are HUGE in terms of how long they take to finish the story but also everything that you can explore and all the different possibilities in terms of the choices you/your characters make. It’s Dungeons and Dragons (which I’ve still never played) but in video game form and we’ve just begun and we maybe get 2 or 3 nights a week where we get 2 hours to play. So it’s going to be much slower progress than Divinity but we’ll get there and so far loving it!
I invited some amazing women to the studio to decorate some vulva and uterus biscuits and talk about menopause and aging and it was amazing! The energy in that room when we were filming was electric and it was so fun and I’m so happy to be able to create a space to have these conversations!

Highly recommend Bluestone in Pembrokeshire for family holidays. It's a beautiful resort and meant for families - eg, toilets all have changing facilities and at least one child- sized toilet seat, the restaurants have options children will actually eat, the staff are brill. Now my eldest had started school it's suddenly a lot more expensive though 🙈 I used to click through week by week to find the cheapest dates, but we've fallen enough in love to save to go again anyway.
We are having the same dilemma as our kid is just starting school and suddenly all holidays are more expensive! I was looking at trains but worried about attempting such a long journey with a small person. I really love Center Parcs but it is crazy expensive, especially in the holidays. We managed to go previously by going in term time and going with a group of others to save on the cost, and even then we would mainly just use the pool because everything else costs so much lol. It is still a really nice holiday if you can afford it.
